What an incredible Alabaster season we have had here at Southside! Thanks to the incredible generosity of our people, we have raised an incredible $4317.48! This more than doubles our Alabaster offering last year. 100% of this offering will go to build hospitals, schools, child development centers, and churches around the world. Nazarene Missions International is hosting a Global Week of Prayer, 2-8 March 2025. You can pick up a prayer journal at the church and join in with your global church family around the world to pray for the global church.
This year, for our annual Christmas Eve offering, we raised funds for our Canada West District Adult Missions Project, supporting the New Scent Centre in Kenya Africa. This centre rescues girls from gender based violence. With your generosity, we raised $5792! All of these funds will go directly to support this incredible work in Kenya. For more information, please visit the New Scent Centre website here.
Together with the help of all those who donated items, we were able to assemble 168 Christmas Gift Bags for Building Hope's Annual Christmas Dinner. These bags were full of goodies such as hot chocolate packets, hand warmers, candy, tea and other items. Thank you for all who donated and all who helped assemble!
For the month of November, we will be focusing across our district on the Nazarene Compassionate Ministries in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. We have a number of local ministries doing an incredible work across our district. Please visit the Missions Table outside of the worship center to grab a prayer request quilt piece, and consider giving a financial gift to support one or more of these ministries. (Just mark your donation as CWD Compassion and give in your regular way)
Thank you to all who donated for the Christmas Eve Offering. We used the $1705 raised to purchase items from the Nazarene Compassionate Ministry Canada Gift Catalog. With the generous funds we were able to purchase the following items:
When we replaced our toilets throughout the church this past year, we thought it would be a great way to also support healthy hygiene around the world! We have 13 toilets in the church and so we have twinned all 13 of them with a latrine in a developing country around the world. Check the plaque above the toilet here at Southside to see where we are twinned!
Each year at our Christmas Eve service we receive an offering to support a Nazarene ministry around the world. For the past few years, we have used the monies raised for this offering to purchase items from the Nazarene Compassionate Ministry Gift Catalog. These items range from goats and chickens to bicycles for pastors, education courses and books, sewing machines for women to start a business and much more. We invite you to donate this year. If you would like more information check out the NCM website here.
